Guy M. Grace Jr. has served as Director of Security and Emergency Planning for Littleton Public Schools, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, since 1999. Guy began providing district wide security services to Littleton Public Schools on January 1st 1990. Administration quickly recognized his school safety aptitude, promoting him first to Patrolman, Lead Officer, Security Coordinator/Facilitator and in 1999 Guy was appointed to head up the LPS Security Department.
Guy was exposed to school security as a contract private security officer providing services to a school district in his hometown after leaving the service. Guy's focus then turned toward the seemingly increasing need for security in schools after he joined Littleton Public Schools in 1990. While serving in his position with LPS Guy has continued his education in Human Resource management, criminal justice and technology. Guy has received numerous awards and recognition for his service and creativity. In 2001 Guy was also awarded the distinguished Association of School Business Officials International Pinnacle of Achievement Award. In 2004 he was named one of the top Security Leaders in the industry by Access Control and Security Systems magazine. In 2007 he was named as one of 25 most influential persons in the security industry by Security Magazine. He is also as an active member of the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), and the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). Guy strives to improve school safety and security through shared resources, communication, and awareness. Guy also has served/serves on several local and state emergency-planning committees where he offers valuable input and insight from a school districts point of view about security and emergency planning. Guy is also the Education Sector Chief for the Denver Chapter FBI Infragard chapter. Guy has also assisted in the designs of physical security programs for schools for LPS and other districts. In addition Guy also regularly field-tests and develops programs and practices for the use of cutting edge technology to help facilitate proper responses in emergencies. Guy is known as a hands’ on leader and regularly works within all realms of school safety.
